Why You Should Pick Up One Of Veronica Roth’s Books
If you’re a lover of dystopian stories, then Veronica Roth is up there with Suzanne Collins, Cassandra Clare and James Dashner. At the height of the franchise adaptations, Roth’s Divergent series lined up nicely with the rest. She creates compelling and imaginative worlds for her characters that allow readers to become fully immersed. Much like Collins, her novels reflect relevant social themes through the perspective of young adults. Therefore, educating adolescents about the world around them and how history can repeat itself is important.
In a world that’s crumbling around its characters, Roth incorporates themes of self-discovery and identity. The more pressure is placed on her characters, the more their development is enriched, making them likable and relatable characters. Her new duology, the Curse Bearer series, leans towards dark urban fantasy that fuses folklore and modernity as an old country story with current societal dynamics. The fusion feels like an amalgamation of her work and her growth as an author.
