If You Like ‘Wuthering Heights’ Add These To Your TBR

What can be said about classics?

There’s a reason many return to highly acclaimed literary fiction, and Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is one of the top choices. Whether you read it for school or choose to read it based on a recommendation, Brontë’s haunting gothic romance lingers long after you’ve finished it.

Emily Brontë explores social class conflict, obsession, love, and violent revenge through the well-known characters of Heathcliff and Catherine. Their obsession with one another leaps off the page, and some film adaptations have showcased their volatile relationship.

Even though there’s an unreliable narrator, there are gaps in the story that can be imaginative when Heathcliff and Catherine are not in the pages. Writer-director Emerald Fennel took some liberties with her interpretation of Wuthering Heights, choosing to focus on the theme of obsessive love and yearning, which perfectly captured the essence of the novel.

If you loved the novel and disliked the most recent adaptation, or disliked the novel and appreciated the most recent interpretation, we have some modern tormented love stories for you!

In February, we are focusing on women in the fantasy genre!

Our BONUS BOOK for February is I, Medusa by Ayana Gray.

When we read our favourite books, there’s usually an antagonist that everyone loves to hate, or they hate to love. Ayana Gray presents a new villain origin story by reimagining one of the most prolific monsters in Greek mythology.
