Book Chat: ‘Morning Star’ By Pierce Brown
Morning Star is a 2016 science fiction novel by American author Pierce Brown, the third in his Red Rising trilogy. Morning Star picks up as the lowborn Darrow escapes capture and resumes his campaign against the tyrannical Sovereign of the Society. Pragmatic as ever, he begins to amass the resources and allies he needs to defeat the forces of the Sovereign.
Book of the Month Preview: ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ and ‘Carl’s Doomsday Scenario’ by Matt Dinniman
If you know Maude Garrett, you know she loves videogames and she has been talking about Dungeon Crawler Carl for a while now. It is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel that plays out like an RPG. If you know Christopher Nolan’s work, then you know he is someone that likes to take a look inside the mind of his characters. He creates complex moral or ethical dilemmas without any concrete answers but instead focuses on the thought process of his characters. There are always grey areas in his films when it comes to crime, trauma, space, and time. The creation of the atomic bomb definitely had some lasting effects on the man who created it. J. Robert Oppenheimer. The book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin explores the nature of his decision. The only filmmaker that could truly capture the internal struggle of Oppenheimer is Nolan.

Henry doesn’t particularly emphasize the grief, but she works it into her characters as it comes in waves. There is no right way to describe grief because everyone can experience it differently.
Henry explores characters grieving the loss of loved ones, relationships or even their past self. She shows that her characters continue living and try their best to find that bright spot to keep them going.
