Bonus Book of the Month: ‘Artemis’ by Andy Weir
Are you a fan of Andy Weir’s novels?
Well, if you are and in case you didn’t know MBC has read Project Hail Mary and The Martian for book club. The MBC community has chosen Artemis as the bonus book for April!

Book Review: ‘A Court of Mist and Fury’ by Sarah J. Maas
Many had fallen in love with the first book (like myself) and decided to continue the series. Since it was my first time reading a Maas series, I felt it was only right to continue to write reviews for the series. Right after I finished Divine Rivals in February, I picked up A Court of Mist and Fury. It is a lengthy book and I was intimidated, but Maas expertly builds a sequel that is better than the first.

Here’s What We Know About ‘Onyx Storm’ by Rebecca Yarros
Rebecca Yarros dropped some of the biggest news on her Instagram about the third novel in the Empyrean series!

Book Review: ‘The Poppy War’ by R.F. Kuang
Our book club pick for March was The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. It has been known that Kuang’s novels are rich with historical and political writing that become dense for some readers. This series is the best way to get to know Kuang and her style of writing.
It feels like an entry-level into her world, and hopefully, you will appreciate how talented of a writer she is. Even if it’s not your style of fantasy, there’s an appreciation for the ambition of this type of structure for a trilogy.

The 10 Most Anticipated Spring 2024 Releases
Spring is here!
And that means another quarter of the most-anticipated novels to look forward to! If you’re a mood reader, there is always a shift in the spring. If you’re like me, there’s a shift to more light-hearted romances that catch your eye. For this spring season, there are debut novels from authors, and other authors have returned with another great addition to their bookography.

If You Like ‘The Three-Body Problem’ Add These To Your TBR
The new Netflix series The Three-Body Problem is based on the critically acclaimed novel by Cixin Liu. The eight-episode series breaks down the novel and also sets up the next two books in the series. If you are a diehard science fiction fan, this new series will get you onboard to read the trilogy.
Like any science fiction novel that deals with aliens, it can be dense at times with a lot of over-explaining and scientific jargon that may not make sense. However, once the foundation for the three-body problem concept is built, the story falls into place.
To this day The Three-Body Problem is regarded as one of the best science fiction trilogies.

Top 5 Poetry Books To Add To Your TBR
MBC wanted to highlight important poetry books that have stood the test of time. Instead of short stories and novels, poems have been short anecdotes and powerful messages that have travelled from country to country.

If You Like ‘The Bite’ by Z.W. TAYLOR Add These To Your TBR
Last year, Z.W. Taylor sent a copy of her book to Maude Garrett with a sweet handwritten note. Garrett enjoyed reading the book and she wanted to share the enjoyment with the community. The Bite has been a topic of discussion on the discord and our community has enjoyed reading it.

Is Casting Underway For ‘Beach Read’ By Emily Henry?
In the middle of last year Maude Garrett, Amanda Tass, and Amanda Guarragi (me), all read books by Emily Henry. If you don’t follow us on Goodreads, then come on over! After reading Book Lovers, Beach Read and Happy Place, we are all awaiting the release of Funny Story in April.
It’s hard to tell which film will come to fruition first, but Henry continuously surprises readers by posting on her Instagram story. And we feel that Beach Read will be the first one with a confirmed cast.

The History Behind ‘The Poppy War’ by R.F. Kuang
The Poppy War became the first notable series for R.F. Kuang as she fused historical fiction with fantasy. The series follows a young girl who chooses to become a soldier rather than be forced into an arranged marriage at fourteen.
Kuang understands the political scope and military strategy in the series because of her studies in the field. Rin possesses a thirst for knowledge because, for Rin, that is the ultimate power early on.
In a way, Rin parallels Kuang’s ability to retain all this information and usefully extract pieces that become relevant at any moment.

‘The Poppy War’ Character Breakdown
Maude’s Book Club is reading their first novel by R.F. Kuang. The Poppy War is a trilogy many have raved about because of the rich historical analysis and the fantasy elements perfectly blending. This has been an exciting BOOK CLUB PICK because of the fast-paced nature of the book and the in-depth political analysis of the class structure within the Kingdom. There is plenty of action, and Kuang’s writing flows through the years passing in the book.
