Maude’s Book Club 2026 Book Picks
Maude’s Book Club launched two years ago, and our 2025 slate was filled with wonderful books. Over the past year, the MBC community has voted on the books we wanted to read, most of which have been winners!
For the first three months of 2026, Maude Garrett and book club members have chosen novels sitting on their TBR. If you’ve been wanting to start a new series or want to dive into Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive, you should come and join us in 2026!
When MBC starts a series and ends up loving the book, the community is always excited to continue reading together. The first three main book picks of 2026 are all sequels we’ve grown to love.
The 2025 Goodreads Choice Awards Winners
The Goodreads Choice Awards Winners have been announced, and we couldn’t be happier for the winners. Even though MBC covers Science Fiction and Fantasy, we love to see books in other genres win!
Some of the books we have read have won. Some books we have chosen for next year won too! If you haven’t read the books listed below, then it’s time to add them to your TBR for next year! All the books nominated have made an impact this year! We can’t wait to read some of them as a community.
Convincing You to Read Books by Carissa Broadbent
If you have Goodreads and you follow Maude Garrett, you know that Maude is a fan of Carissa Broadbent! Ever since the Crowns of Nyaxia series, Broadbent has been on everyone’s radar to see what she writes next.
Fantasy has been Broadbent’s niche, and she is great at world-building. The War of Lost Hearts series is also getting a new look! Broadbent’s Children of Fallen Gods will be reissued with a gorgeous new book cover on December 9th.

If You Like ‘The Running Man’ Add These Books To Your TBR
2025 has been Stephen King’s year!
Adaptations of If It Bleeds, The Long Walk, IT, and The Running Man have all been well-received by audiences.
The Running Man was adapted in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger playing the title role of Ben Richards. Stephen King wrote this novel and The Long Walk under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.
After reading The Running Man, it goes without saying that Edgar Wright’s visionary filmmaking is the best fit to capture the fast-paced energy of the novel.

If You Like ‘Frankenstein’ Add These Books To Your TBR
The month of October may be over. But some people are drawn to the misunderstood characters and the obscure.
The novel that has been adapted many times over is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Each adaptation offers a new perspective on the novel, but Guillermo del Toro has created the perfect adaptation. Not only does he have a firm grasp of what Victor Frankenstein’s intention was with the undead, but he also makes him the villain of the story.
Del Toro’s love for Shelley’s novel and the depiction of The Creature is profound. It is one of the most beautiful films of the year and the definitive adaptation of Shelley’s novel.
